Today we leave the coast of Normandy for Brussels, Belgium. Before I get off of Normandy, I'll relay a small problem we had and how we dealt with it. The young lady, Frederica, we dealt with in getting into our house in Grandcamp-Maisy and closing it out did not speak English. However she spoke more English than we did French. Thank goodness for computers. I went to "Google Translate" on the lap top and would type out our questions for Frederica in English and then translate it into French. Worked very well.
We had our morning coffee, drove to Caen and turned in our rental car. We boarded a train for Paris and rode about 2 hours. Upon arriving in Paris, we took a taxi to the Gare Nord (North Train Terminal) and boarded the high speed train for Brussels. One and one half hours. While on the train they served us lunch. We were hungry, so we ate. I think they use the same caterers that Delta uses. Same quality. We arrived in Brussels, checked into our hotel. We went sightseeing in the old town, saw the little guy statue (They had him dressed as a leprechaun, ate a waffle and some chocolates. After all, we are tourists. Uneventful day, tomorrow we take a tour of "The Battle of the Bulge"
